Perhaps you can consider the reason there are so many rescue agencies dedicated specifically to greyhounds.

Our big boy is the delight of our daily existence. If you've never had a greyhound you have never lived. In our case it was through Greyhounds as Pets, New South Wales.

It dumbfonds me how many of these dogs need help in the UK. I recently adopted a lurcher here in the US and could not imagine a better breed. She is great at the dog park , even around puppies and kids, she even gave a baby in a stroller a kiss today. She is a ball of energy around other dogs off leash but will sleep for 10 hours after an hour or so at the dog park. She is so gentle and affectionate I cannot even comprehend why someone abandoned her out in a country field. If I ever adopt another dog it will be a lurcher. I am not sure if it is hard to adopt a dog from the UK if you live in the USA but I would definitely do it if it made sense. They are wonderful dogs and match my lifestyle perfectly. I like to get out and burn some energy each day but then colapse when I get home and it is nice to have a dog that does the same.

I recently adopted a lurcher here in the USA. She is totally a couch potato and is more than satisfied with a walk and an hour at the dog park each day. She tires herself out and will sleep for 10 hours after an hour at the park. She is the most affectionate couch potato ever and I can definitely see myself adopting this breed again in the future.

Oh my! This wonderful girl looks just like my beautiful Meg who left me for Rainbow Bridge last June. I miss her every single day 💔💔💔. I still have three as adopted a Greyhound in Meg's name who had been rescued from a slaughter house in China. So tragic. I want them all. Just adore Greyhounds. So jealous of which ever lucky person gets to adopt this lovely girl and sweet Wren ❤❤❤ xx

We have our fifth retired greyhound over the past 31 years. One was a lurched, the others all racers. Most fantastic dogs out there. Now that we’re in our 70s we can attest to the fact that these beautiful beasts are perfect pets, especially for seniors.

I've rescued a grey called Murphy, he has been a challenge, as in the past only rescued collies. He is an ex racer, and a terrible food thief, which is challenging!!!! 1.5 years down the line, we are getting there, as long as I keek the kitchen door closed!!!!

❤Lola was part of our family for 10 years, and even though she is chasing bunnies in the sky, she will be in our hearts forever !

All dogs are special but a sighthound is better, you've never owned a dog until you've owned a sighthound, FACT!!!!
